Cropping to sell - Hoodoo Ridge

Another tweak for this show demanded cropping. This is always a tough decision, because when you crop it may improve the painting and sell it faster, but some of your hard work and profit goes in the bin. In this case the canvas panel was a difficult shape to crop (not to mention tough to cut) and although I was left with a really nice "slice of life" type leftover piece, it was non standard size and would therefore need a custom frame. Luckily I managed to find a wooden frame close to the right size, gave it a cottage makeover and here is the result. Do you think I made the right decision?

    New crop - Hoodoo Ridge 8" x 10"
    Sliver Framed - Cool Ravine 11" x 5"
I think both of these paintings are stronger for the crop. I now have a standard 8 x 10 and a 5 x 11 custom framed sliver. I particularly like the sliver, which has a lot of impact and a Georgia O'Keefe look to it. Both paintings are a popular size, perfect for my SPLIT PERSONALITY show, the airport SWAC SKYWAY kiosk and my galleries that love local scenes.
